The "Overflow of Taiyi" series integrates traditional motifs from Persian miniatures, Indian miniatures, and Chinese paintings, using the traditional tempera material from European painting as the medium. It dissects and reconstructs forms and textures from various cultures to explore the universal principles behind different cultures.
Influenced by the monochrome black and white of Chinese ink painting, Cong Yunfeng's series features a central octagonal shape surrounded by two layers of identical octagons, with this structure repeating to form a seemingly infinite pattern, symbolizing a process of constant expansion or flow. He aims to combine Chinese ink painting with Western tempera material to present a fusion of cultures.
